Today is a Tortilla soup kind of day ...

So March is on it's way out but it seems the weather is still catching up to it. So cloudy skies, wind blowing and rain drops splattering into puddles. Do you have those internal lists in your head that when you have a chance
you will get to them? This was the day when I decided to check one
of them off my list.

I have had my IPhone 3Gs, yes not a new one for almost 2 years and
when I was trying to figure out how to download music onto it, I
somehow downloaded some of my music several times, so I had
several songs downloaded like 5 times.
It was so annoying. The other day when I was
listening to my songs, my daughter asked, is this on repeat? I've heard
that song over and over and over again. I
know. I hate it too. But I couldn't figure how to delete them.

Well you can't delete them from your phone, you have to
hook it up to your computer . And even then I was still doing it wrong.

After my phone stopped syncing, and a head hitting the wall hour and half later, I figured it out, duh, you have to right click you mouse and hit
delete. OMGoodness..$%^&*(()*_)(*&^. No
there wasn't cursing. Except on this keyboard.

Finally after almost 2 years I figured it out. And now as I am
gliding around in my kitchen, playing "All the Pennies" by Mindy Gledhill
I LOVE HER, and all her albums. Except not 5 times in a row, hmm.

Anyway where was I? oh yeah, As I am gliding across my kitchen, You can
glide, in your mind;..... anywhoo, I am making
Tortilla Soup, because it's that kind of day.

dreamy lemon cupcakes

This weekend was a whirlwind. Our daughter Mackenzie and her husband Jared came to town for the weekend. It's always fun when your adult children come home. Saturday was suppose to rain but it held off. Saturday morning breakfast was filling, we made crepes with

fresh strawberries and cream and scrambled eggs. I dropped Mackenzie off to our Miracle

lady "E" who does wonder's with hair, I went to the gym, and David, Cecelia and Jared

were home, Jared catching up on some work on his laptop and David and Cecelia keeping the fires burning.

(Two stories going on at the same time) Made these "to die for" cupcakes late at 11 o'clock Saturday night with Mackenzie and Jared. My good friend Jessica was kind enough to Text it to us. She had made Mackenzie and Jared's wedding cake with this recipe. And oh my gosh you would think you had died and gone to heaven.

Back to first story, So when Mackenzie's hair was done, Jared and I went and picked her up and came home, the two of them went to lunch in our little town. Cecelia had a great idea for us to do, and that is to go bowling. We all planned to do it later that afternoon.

(2nd story)- So here we had this great recipe and the ingredients, and we were all still awake so we decided to Go For It and make these.

1# story. We all headed up to the one and only Bowling Alley in our County. I think, David said it had been at least 20 years since we set foot in that place. I don't know, I can't remember. We put our name on the waiting list and decided to play "pool". None of us play pool, however I didn't know I had a pool shark in "David" that man can play. We were split up in teams of couples and he was my secret weapon that we didn't know about. He hasn't played in such a long time, but I guess, just like riding a bike, you don't forget. Yay! we won. Well, he did without my help. It was hilarious.

2# Story, the recipe to this is very easy. I swear I probably ate 5 of them the next day. I didn't tell David when he confessed that he ate 4. Last night around a 11pm, yes we were still up, we had to have one more, so we split one and of course put frosting on both bites. I found that because they are soooo light and fluffy that you have to freeze them before you frost them, otherwise they will just fall apart. So I'm keeping all my unfrosted ones in a container in the freezer and when I want one, I just pull one out and frost it. Unless of course your going to eat them up in one sitting.

There were 6 of us bowling. I was doing real well in the beginning and for awhile I was actually ahead of everyone, but then they all started catching up to me, and again David took off in points. It was alot of fun. We got done around 7:30pm and we still hadn't had dinner, so we stopped at the store and bought the groceries and we were eating at 9pm. Who does that? I haven't eaten dinner that late since I don't know when. We all were talking about that, we felt very European. After dinner we played Scattergories. This party was not stopping. And that's when we decided, well it's only 10:45pm lets make those cupcakes.

And we did! Went to bed after midnight dreaming of those Lemon creamy cupcakes.

wo-man from snowy river

This morning we woke up to the whiteness, grant it, its not measured in feet but
it is awfully pretty. Finally winter came a few days before "Spring".

I love seasons, I don't think I could live in a place where the seasons
never changed. I can enjoy this because I have a warm toasty home and roof over
our heads. This I am thankful for.

As soon as I saw the "snow" I ran and grabbed my camera and came out on the porch
in my PJ's and started snapping pictures. I''m no professional but, hey this is
my thing. I love the different shades of white.

Some of these bouquet of dried flowers are from our daughter's wedding,
I love the colors that they have faded into.

I snapped this picture from our kitchen door, it was a little too wet
to step outside to take this. We weren't sure if church was going to be held because
our church is on a slope and sometimes when it snows it sometimes gets
to slippery to drive up. But it was all good.

Off to church we went. Happy Sabbath!

Camellia's

Today started very early, was awake at 3:26am and couldn't sleep, which was pretty sorry when I needed to wake up at 5am. Finally forced myself to sleep at 4 so I could get at least an hour of sleep. Attended the Temple with my temple buddy at the 7:00 session. When I left home it had been raining, when we got out of the Temple it was a beautiful sunny brisk morning. The rest of my day was planned out in my mind but sometimes it doesn't always go as planned.

I was watching Pioneer Woman on Food network the other day and she made this yummy

Corn Chowder. So That's what I decided to make today. It turned out really good. I had planned on having it for dinner, but my hubby and daughter came in the kitchen and wanted it for lunch. So they did. My next plan was to make some bread and if I had time bake some cookies. I couldn't find my bread recipe so I called my little sister, she's always good for a recipe. She just happened to be making bread as I called her, so she gave me that recipe.

I ground about 14 cups of wheat and followed the directions to the "T", everything was going well. I let the dough rise and it looked like it was going to be some great loaves of bread. But when I finally got them in their pans they didn't seem to rise that much. I thought maybe they will do better when I get them in the oven. But no, they didn't rise as much as they should have. I was so bummed. All that work, the bread according to hubby David, tasted good, it really did, I didn't take a picture of them, cuz they were so sorry looking., maybe I need to alter the temperature or time. I'll have to ask my sister how her's turned out.

On to the next. So when I make my chocolate chip cookies they come out really well, if I do say so myself. So when I made a different recipe, I was pretty confident.

Maybe it's because of the weather, but my batch of cookies didn't come out, the temperature and time was different, maybe my oven was too hot for the time allotted, I don't know but they were too brown but not done inside. Darn!!! I give up. At least my Pioneer Corn Chowder came out. Oh before I forget, I am so fortunate to have these beautiful Pink Camellias grow right outside my dining room. The pale pinks are so gorgeous. I picked these before the rain. They were kind of on their way out, I think I'm going to pick a fresh batch tomorrow.
