Chalking it DIY again

So as I was stalking some of my favorite blogs I came
upon another great DIY easy peasy idea that I knew I could probably do and didn't take lots of time.

Time is one thing I don't seem to have a lot of . Which drives me crazy. I work part-time but, my days off or evenings are full of lists and things I have to do. I'm sure I don't have to tell
any woman this, every woman out there is the same way and I am no exception. So when I can squeeze some "me" time, I jump
at the chance.

Case in point,
The other morning I had to take a load to our local hospice store and then
a whole bunch of empty boxes to the recyclers. I knew they were in two different directions
so that was going to take time and then hurry up and get home to do some yard work.
As the kind gentlemen was unloading my car he noticed all my boxes and asked me
what I was going to do with them, and I told him. He quickly pointed out to me
that they had a recycle bin for them just around the corner of their building.
I said "Yes"! that totally saved me 20 minutes.

What was I going to do with those luxurious 20 minutes? Well go into this store and
look for silver serving trays for that DIY project that I was obsessing about, by george!
Sure enough the first aisle I cruised down I found one and after about 4 or more times
going up and down the aisles, I found another one, Score!!
If I remember right this one was $3.50 and made in Italy, by golly.

And this one was about $3.00 and real silver too.

I had just enough time to go by Home Depot on the way home and
run in and get Chalkboard spray paint, I think it was $4.00.
I don't remember, I just know it was cheap.

I couldn't work on them right away when I got home so they had to sit on the table all day
until that night when again, I had some free time. It was probably 9:30pm when I
could start on it, maybe 10pm, I just couldn't wait to see how they were going to turn out.

So there I was standing outside by the back porch light spray painting these
things. Hubby just rolled his eyes at me, but then he started getting into it.

I let them
sit outside for the night and the next day I came home for lunch from work and gave them both a second coat. By evening I took the tape and paper off and they came out like this.
I think they make great gifts, so I'm on the hunt for more trays. Cecelia has already wrote
messages on them like "What's for dinner?"
I know, I know..............Anywhoo, thanks to whomever I saw
this idea on. I love it!

yellow brick road

This is a sneek peek of what I am doing in our Masterbedroom. Since I can't change

the wall color (they are wall papered) I decided to find something that is

a little modern and perky.

I found this fabric at Hancocks and I'm determined to use

it somewhere.

Maybe do something like this and use the other fabric accent
drapery. I don't know, but I'm going to have fun trying.

sew ya. get it....

V day

The day ended like this. Dark Chocolate Lava cake with
a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.

He is a natural it seems with the piano, our Derek is. He's been taking lessons for
about 6 months and loves to play. We are so proud of him. I very much admire
anyone who can play the piano.

The kids came over this past Saturday, and we did an early
celebration of "V" day............

Our oldest granddaughter Tacie, is getting so big. I can't believe
she's going to be 6 years old this summer. We love her very much!

We exchanged love cards. I love my Valentine very much. Poor guy is still on the
mend. He kept me company as I drove around doing errands throughout the day. He was
so patient as I ducked in and out of 2nd hand stores. I'm on the hunt for an end table.
I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's day.

Home on the range

I have been wanting to practice my camera skills so after working on the property I asked Cecelia to indulge me a little especially since we still had day light.

We drove the truck out on the pasture ( did I tell you I love that?) and went out by
our large burn pile that we can't wait to take care of, maybe this week.

She was pretty patient with me, even though she doesn't look it right now, she picked up a stick and proceeded to break it, this is her "look how strong I am look"!

"Mom" she's saying , I'm saying " wait wait wait, I almost got it. "

We had to include our or rather her baby "Angelica". She's getting use to our
new home.

I told her that she was being a good subject and I really appreciated it. Then....

Mr. Home on the range joined our shoot.

He told me to call him the "One arm mandit". I love this one of my
two ranch hands. We have been working really well together. Thanks guys!

Where ever Cecelia goes on the property, Miss Angelica is not far behind.

Back at ya later.

Calendar girls

Every year I am very lucky to get a Calendar made by my very talented son-in-law Chris, and this year was no exception. I cherish these calendars. When I flipped the page for February I fell in love with this one, the expression on Jenna's face is so
scrumptiously cute, it's like she's saying to herself " I didn't sign up for this" or what am I doing in this laundry basket?" I just love it!! I have
to say, this is my fav!! So funny and cute at the same time!
Happy Friday everyone.

At home

So it's amazing just how things

can change, we are getting settled in our new abode here in B -Valley and I have found how

much one can get done when one doesn't watch the tele. The first couple of weeks we didn't

have television nor Internet and it was kinda nice. I wasn't born with the green thumb gene

like my mom or my husband but I do love working outdoors! Call me a John Wayne

& Maureen Ohara hopeless romantic, but when I'm walking around this property I can go back in time (working the ranch) and picture the bunkhouse, ranchers and cowhands.

I think

I would have been a great Ma Ingalls.

Any whoo,

a great lady told me when

she is working the soil and land it's very therapeutic, I have to concur.

My dear Hubby hurt himself the 8th of January and I know he may not agree, but I feel it's been somewhat of a blessing. We have tried to get into a routine with me getting him ready for the day etc. And even though he has only one useful hand, he gets outside and

walks around with the clippers and prunes what he can. He's pretty good at lists and

I have to say I like crossing off stuff. Today the sun was shining and it's February all ready. I Told hubby that I would like to journal our time here and keep track on the calendar the projects and/or tasks that we accomplish. One of my goals this month is to get back to

maintaining this here blog. All in good time.
