Summer time and the feeling is....

This post will be short on words but the pictures should
describe this Past weekend when our California
grandkids spent 5 days with us.

They were in the water from 10am til after 6pm they only came out to eat.

Saturday morning before anything else, and while everyone else was sound asleep, Tacie and I ran to the Farmers Market
and picked up all kinds of fruit, then picked up some bagels .

We roasted Hot Dogs for dinner.

After dinner it was time to play Bacchi ball? That cat over there is a stray cat, and every
time we threw out the first ball, he would chase it and move it. It was literally
a moving target.

We played mixed doubles, then boys against the girls. Tacie used her age as a handicap, wink
wink, she always ran a few paces before throwing her ball.
Don't ask who won.

After our game, it was time for S'mores and scout campfire ghost stories.
Tacie is very serious about roasting her marshmallows.
I'm so proud of my potted garden. They all started out as a seedlings in my kitchen.

This was just one day. But a good one at that.

Home on the range

I have been wanting to practice my camera skills so after working on the property I asked Cecelia to indulge me a little especially since we still had day light.

We drove the truck out on the pasture ( did I tell you I love that?) and went out by
our large burn pile that we can't wait to take care of, maybe this week.

She was pretty patient with me, even though she doesn't look it right now, she picked up a stick and proceeded to break it, this is her "look how strong I am look"!

"Mom" she's saying , I'm saying " wait wait wait, I almost got it. "

We had to include our or rather her baby "Angelica". She's getting use to our
new home.

I told her that she was being a good subject and I really appreciated it. Then....

Mr. Home on the range joined our shoot.

He told me to call him the "One arm mandit". I love this one of my
two ranch hands. We have been working really well together. Thanks guys!

Where ever Cecelia goes on the property, Miss Angelica is not far behind.

Back at ya later.

Out with old, in with the New Year!

David and I don't normally exchange presents. Although I did get him an MP3 this year, Mackenzie helped me by putting some of his favorite music on it and we presented it to him. David and the kids always asks me what I would like and they know my pat answer is: peace and harmony and us just being together. Honestly that's all I want. I have no wants. I have no other joy, than to be with my family. I love us just hanging out and talking and laughing. My adult kids love to tell me things they use to do when they were younger because they know I can't do anything about it. Sometimes I plug my ears and start singing la la la la. Cecelia will want to chime in and share, but then I will warn her kiddingly "hey you still live at home I can still ground you". LOl. Pretty soon she too will leave the nest. But until then I can still enjoy having her home. We thoroughly enjoyed Chloe. She is getting so big. We have found out that she loves men. She was not shy at all when she got reacquainted with David, she climbed right on his lap and settled in. It took a few minutes before you got use to me. It didn't take long. Christmas eve night she allowed me to sing and rock her to sleep. I think I sang Eensy weensy spider and Your are my Sunshine at least 20 times. Grandchildren are Grandparents rewards for not killing their kids. It is all worth it.

To Blog or not to blog?

That is the question. I love Christmas! First of all it's a good excuse to clean out the old and organize. After a good Stake Conference, I came home made dinner, ate and then got in the mood to do some decorating, Christmas stuff of course. So what better way to do this but by playing Christmas music of course. David will start moaning and he'll pretend he doesn't like it, but as soon as he see's the room take on a red, white and green look, he starts singing along with whatever Christmas music is playing and does these weird antics like clapping his hands and mimicking me. I don't mind, I just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm not done yet, I thought I would pace myself. Tonight maybe the tree. I'll add some pics later when I get it just right. This is our 3rd year that David, Cecelia and I are volunteering to serve at the ST Patrick's Community Dinner. I love it because I don't have to cook especially it's just the three of us. Cecelia loves to serve. The first year we did it she said she wanted to have the Homeless people's table. She finds it intriguing, she said she would love to interview them and hear their story. Of course we told her no, but be polite. She is funny that way.

We will start preparing at 12:30pm and then we serve dinner between 1pm - 3pm. Anyone can come and enjoy a nice Thanksgiving dinner. You can have seconds and you can even take a To-go meal home. The best part, the servers can eat towards the end, and if we want we can even take a To-go meal home. The room is beautifully decorated with round and long tables, just like you would see at a nice restaurant and you treat the people that are assigned to your tables like special guests to a fancy restaurant. We have always had a good experience. By 3:15pm or so, you're done and you can enjoy the rest of your day. I hope those that come to this dinner go away feeling good and had a nice experience. I know that we do.

Life simple as that.

Yesterday, Cecelia flew for the first time by herself. She wasn't as nervous as I was for her. She flew to SLC Utah to attend EFY. Cheri's husband, Chris picked her up and he was taking her Senior Portraits today. He is such a great photographer that we decided to have him do this, it's nice to have one in the family. Cheri will drop of Cece on Monday at BYU. I hope she has a good time. It's quiet here at home. Today, David and I went in the morning to buy some more plants for our garden. David does such a good job on the garden, I know we wouldn't be eating fresh vegetables if it wasn't for him. So far we have enjoyed the bounties of fresh spinach and spring mix lettuce. The tomato plants are doing well. So are the other vegetables, I can't wait to eat them. Around noon we decided to take a drive up to Wrights Lake Road to see if the roads were cleared, sure enough they were. It was so beautiful up there. We spent most our time walking around the great meadow a few miles before you get to the lake. The sun hid now and then behind the clouds, then we got a few rain drops and then it would be a little over cast. Good thing I brought us some sweatshirts. David and I kept telling each other that we want to come back every Saturday and do more hikes and some camping. I just felt and over powering feeling of gratefulness of the beauty that Heavenly Father created for us to enjoy. It was a wonderful day.
